What if I have to miss a class?

In this Crash Course on Short-Form 37 Steps Taiji, we'll teach 2 steps in each class. It is deem a rather compact schedule with many things to learn within 3 months. It is therefore advised that one shouldn’t miss any class.

In the event absent is unavoidable, it is not a disaster! This course is designed in such a way that there will be a revision class in each month, where no new step is taught. Those who have missed classes before could take advantage of the revision classes to make up, while the other could do revisions.

Hence, it is ok though not advisable to miss a class, provided that you come to the revision classes to make it up! Of course, words of advise, do your homework and practice at home between classes what you were taught in each of the classes!

How are we different from the others ?

We teach Taiji Quan (太極拳 ) here, with focus on the fundamental of Taiji (太極 ) forms/movements. Compare to other Taiji that are widely practiced by many social groupings in town, such as 18-styles taiji (太極十八式), we focus on details of each forms and make sure you benefit more from the stretching, twisting and balancing in the exercise.

In addition, we also teach self
-defence techniques as a bonus, which could enable you to protect yourself and your loved ones. Of course to us, training in Taiji will not consider complete without working on Qi (). We emphasis the training on the flow and redirection of Qi (運氣).

Why is there a Crash Course on Taiji ?

At the Taiji Association, we realise the typical dilemma of the working professionals, where many could not spare the time required to attend long-term training on Taiji, which could last for years.
We therefore come out with this condensed, crash course, which could be completed in
24 classes in 3 months time. Our hopes are that those attended the crash course would learn a set of exercise that they could continue to practice at their convenience time and venue. At the same time, they could also pick up some self-defence skills.

For example, I am glad that I took up Taiji about 10 years ago for about two years. Now that I cannot find time to attend the regular classes in the evening, but I could practice Taiji in the morning instead. After sending my kids to the school and before come to work, I would spend about 30 min to work on Taiji. In fact there was a period of time when I was teaching part-time an undergraduate engineering class in the evening, I had no choice but to practice Taiji after knocking off at about 10pm! Now, when I travel I would maintain the same work out schedule in the park where I put up or inside the hotel room.

It is best that one could find time to complete this 3-month crash course and pick up the Taiji fundamentals so that he/she could later work out an exercise program that would work.
